• Windows Installation CD/DVD

A few steps required

1. Backup! Always and always when making a major modification to the hardisk.

2. Run the Boot Camp Assistant from Applications->Utilities->Boot Camp Assistant

3. Decide on a new partition size for Windows. Take note of the file system that you’re going use for new partition. FAT32 system can only hold a maximum of 32GB and that’ll be a waste if you format a 80GB partition with FAT system. Based on your requirements,  if you need a larger space for Windows, choose NTFS.

4. When partitioning is completed, slip in the windows installation CD/DVD. Click “Start Installation” and we’re done with the Mac!

5. Assuming that you’re familiar with Windows installation, I won’t go in depth into it. If you need extra information for that,check out here at installing XP or here at installing Vista. Just remember to install in the right partition Boot Camp and choose file system as NTFS.

6. Upon successful installation, your system will be restarted. By now Boot Camp will assume that your primary OS is Windows and load it automatically. You can choose the desired OS  by holding down the Option key at startup though.

7. Now you’re inside the Windows and time to install Mac hardware drivers. Put in Mac OS X CD which is shipped to you when you purchase your Mac. Click on the DVD drive icon in My Computer and follow steps required by the Apple program to update your drivers for various hardware. Restart and we’re DONE! Now you can start up your Mac using Microsoft Windows or Apple Mac OS X.
